My hard work is finally paying me rich dividends." In a candid chat with NT, the glamorous actress fills us in on her upcoming films and more.
Meaningful cinema
The actress has a lot of good projects lined up and most of them fulfil her desire to do meaningful roles. "If SRK is about love, sacrifice and emotion then Karan Razdan's Mittal vs Mittal is about marital abuse and empowerment of women, and Parkosh deals with the problems of a surrogate mother," she says and adds, "I am bubbling with energy. And these films will help me prove my versatility." Besides, these projects the lady is also trying her luck with some masala films. "BBD is a political thriller while Love Khichdi and David Dhawan's Do not disturb are comedies. Manish Gupta's Sab Chai Pani is a dark film on cops. While meaningful cinema will fetch me recognition, commercial cinema will get me monetary benefits. So, its transition time for me."
Remake time
The actress will also be seen in a Bengali flick titled Trishna, which is the remake of John-Bipasha starrer Jism. Ask her whether she will be able to trigger the same spark that Bipasha ignited on screen, and she says, "I am not in the industry to imitate anyone. The intimate scenes have been shot very artistically and there is no trace of obscenity in those." So, was Bipasha obscene in Jism? "No, not at all! What I mean to say is that the sensuous scenes have been shown even more aesthetically."

Family matters
Rituparna, who is married to her childhood sweetheart Sanjay Chakrabarty, says, "Marriage is the most beautiful experience in the world. It enhances the creativity of people - especially women - and gives a sense of fulfilment. It gives a new dimension to a woman's life." Ask Rituparna, whether the marriage tag is a hinderance to her professional life, and she replies after a pause, "I don't really think so. We have Kajol and Madhuri Dixit in the industry. The industry is now more open to accepting married women. It is the talent that matters." So, any plans of raising the family? "Not now, but yes someday, I will surely have a complete family," replies Rituparna.
Earning place
With so many young actresses qualifying for the number one position, where does she fit into this equation? "All those vying for the number one position are very talented. But, everyone in the industry has his or her own place. I have earned my place too. I am a versatile actress and that's the reason my work is now getting recognition," says she and signs off.
